While I was putting together the pieces to create this look, I had the mindset of wanting to do Parisian street style with an earth tone palette. Now, it is widely known that Parisians are among some of the most stylish individuals to grace this planet, so I thought I would leave you guys with a few basic pointers to keep in mind when creating your own Parisian street style look:
.Keep the outfit balanced. My unprofessional observation of Parisian street style is that it consists of remarkable balance and casual sophistication. Parisians always look effortlessly put together. The pieces they wear are fabulous and exciting, but they always complement each other. For Parisians, there are no statement pieces. The outfit as a whole is the statement.
.Wear flattering basics in basic colors ( I kind of ignored this with the earth tones, but sometimes you have to add your own twist). When walking the streets of Paris, you will see a lot of people wearing black, navy or grey. This is done with good reason--those colors tend to be slimming and flattering on most people.
.Wear sensible stylish shoes (i.e. flats, riding boots, wedges, or a bootie with a low heel). Parisians walk a lot. Thus, it makes sense that their shoes would be practical; however, they are Parisians, so their shoes have to be stylish as well.
.Wear a fitted/tailored jacket or coat. Trench coats, pea coats, feminine leather jackets, and cropped or fitted blazers all look chic without being excessively dominating or the overbearing focal point of a look.
.Accessorize minimally. Do not wear too much jewelry, and gear your accessories toward wearing/carrying a scarf, a mannish hat, large sunglasses, and a sophisticated handbag.
.Wear the attitude. As always, dress with confidence, and carry yourself proudly. I swear, Parisians and Italians have this down to a science.
